A national chain of stores that I remember going to as a kid with my mom, but haven’t been to in more than 25 years, has announced huge closures across the United States.

The retailer has announced around 300 store closures and a massive number of them are in California. The latest reports say they will close 75 stores here.

Big News - Retailer Closing at Least 75 Stores in CA

The retailer is Big Lots, and they are making lots of big changes. There were closure announcements made earlier in the year but the number keeps increasing. There are currently 108 stores listed on the Big Lots website for California. Soon, that number will be down to only 33.

When closures were initially announced in July, the number of stores closing was going to be around 35 to 40 (NBC LA has the original number at 150). Then the number was 90. Now it’s over 300 across the nation but the closures will be huge for California. Anaheim and Sacramento are losing 2 locations each, and Fresno will lose 3 - which is all the stores in each of those cities.
