Police in Southern Idaho believe a deadly head-on crash that happened on Friday morning may have been caused by an elderly driver from Texas on a highway near the Wyoming border.

All occupants of the vehicles were wearing seatbelts, but one person was killed in the crash, and two others were sent to the hospital.

Porsche Driver from Texas Killed in Idaho Highway Head-On Accident

The accident happened at 8:07 AM on September 11th at a curve in the highway along the east side of Palisades Reservoir, on US26 at mile marker 397. The ISP news release reports that two vehicles with three occupants were involved in the crash.

A 1999 Porsche Carrera, driven by a 71-year-old male from McKinney, Texas, was traveling eastbound on US26.

A 2020 Ram 1500 pickup, driven by a 36-year-old male from Afton, Wyoming, with a 27-year-old female passenger from Afton, Wyoming, was traveling westbound on US26.

The Porsche crossed over the center line and collided head-on with the pickup truck. The driver and passenger of the truck were taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital.

The driver of the Porsche passed away at the scene of the accident. Emergency responders from Idaho and Wyoming assisted at the scene.

An injury accident was reported on September 7th, a few miles north of today’s accident on US26 at mile marker 372. A truck was towing a trailer with an ATV on it when the trailer detached from the truck. A motorhome struck the trailer, injuring both occupants.
