Driver Injured After Dump Truck Hit By Train West of Boise in Southern Idaho

Over the weekend, the Idaho State Police responded to an accident between a train and a dump truck near Parma, about 45 minutes west of Boise.

The driver of the dump truck was injured in the accident and dense fog could be a contributing factor in the accident.

Dense Fog a Possible Factor in Southern Idaho Train vs Dump Truck Accident

The Idaho State Police have called the accident between a train and a dump truck a ‘serious injury crash’ as the truck driver was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The wreck happened on Saturday morning, February 7th, around 9:30 AM. The accident happened at the train crossing at Apple Valley Road and Noye Lane.

• A 2015 Peterbilt driven by a 52-year-old male from Nyssa, OR, was traveling northbound on Noye Ln. going over the railroad tracks.
• A Union Pacific locomotive was traveling southeast on the railroad tracks when it collided with the 2015 Peterbilt.

There was dense fog reported that morning, limiting visibility to around 300 feet, according to the ISP report.

The driver of the dump truck was taken to the hospital and no occupants of the train required hospitalization. The accident blocked the roadway for about six and a half hours.

The accident is being investigated by ISP.
