Pregnant Woman Among Those Injured in 4-Vehicle Crash in Nampa, Idaho

A serious injury accident in Nampa, Idaho on Monday afternoon sent three people to the hospital, one with life-threatening injuries and two with minor injuries. First-hand witnesses also reported at least one child among the occupants of the vehicles involved.

The accident was reported by the Nampa Police Department in a social media press release post.

The Nampa Police Department shared the press release on Monday afternoon, a few minutes before 4:30 PM, on social media regarding a serious accident that had happened in the morning around 9:46 Am at the intersection of Middleton road and Lake Lowell Ave. Four vehicles were involved in the accident and three people were taken to medical facilities for care.

One of the people transported was a pregnant woman who was taken to a regional trauma center with life-threatening injuries. The report doesn’t specify if only the woman or the child were at risk or if both were injured.

The report does say that the other two people who were injured were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to report information to help the investigation determine what caused the accident. People in the comment section have shared previous experiences with that intersection and some who witnesses this recent accident detailed what they believe happened. One comment even claimed to have video of the wreck that they were in the process of submitting to authorities.

According to at least one post, a black truck approached the intersection and failed to yield (the intersection is a 4-way stop) and crashed into a vehicle that was crossing the intersection. Two other vehicles were also hit after the initial impact.

Recent Accident Starts Debate About Intersection Safety in Nampa

The accident has sparked conversation about the safety of the intersection and what can or should be done to improve it.

Some think a stop light or a roundabout would fix the problem while others point out that the accident seems to have been caused by a driver not caring or not paying attention, so a light would not have helped in this situation.

Other comments pointed out a common issue with drivers and that many don’t understand who has the right of way at a 4-way stop or an uncontrolled intersection.

A recent accident in Twin Falls appears to have been caused by a similar instance of a vehicle moving through an intersection when they weren’t supposed to and failing to yield to the vehicle to the right.
