In a rare weather event, the entire southern section of Idaho is under the same dangerous weather warning.

Southern Idaho is interesting when it comes to weather conditions because often Twin Falls, on the western side of Idaho, will have a much more tame weather event than Pocatello to the east.

Red Flag Weather Warning In Effect in Southern Idaho

But for once, all of Southern Idaho agrees that it will be hot, windy, dry, and dangerous outside over the next few days.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued across Southern Idaho from the Oregon border to Wyoming and is in effect beginning at 3PM on Wednesday. With the Red Flag Warning there is also a Sever Storm Risk which could bring strong winds, lightning, and wildfires.

KMVT meteorologist Jordan Scheufler explained the dangers and what to expect over the next day with an online weather update.

A Red Flag Warning means conditions are currently, or will be soon, prime for wildfires to start and spread quickly. Thunderstorms will be scattered across Southern Idaho and wind gusts could reach 60 miles per hour in some areas.

The Red Flag Warning begins at 3PM on Wednesday, July 9th and expires at midnight in the Twin Falls area and 9PM in the Pocatello and Idaho Falls areas.
