I grew up in Utah, and some of these cross the state line, but most of them are only truly understood by someone who lives in Idaho.

Since times do change, even Idahoans might argue the meaning or use of some of those words. Idahoans will argue about what to call the box in a car in front of the passenger seat. You’ll hear older people call it a jockey box, and the youth will call it a glove box.

But we know 'the youth' don't always get words right. Youngsters using the ridiculous words today, like skibbity, rizz, and alpha. We were young once, and we know they will get through this tough time of made-up vernacular.

Another one that people have argued with me about is the name for the temporary mobile classrooms. We called them relocatables, and others call them modulars or portables. To me, ‘portables’ sounds like a bathroom.
