DEVO, Keanu Reeves’ Band Opening For Pearl Jam At CA Beach Show
One of the biggest California music festivals of the year is kicking off one week from Friday and features over 30 bands. The three-day concert and fundraiser will take place on the sand at a popular Southern California beach.
For years, I've been curious about attending one of California's most popular annual music festivals Pearl Jam headlines 50 miles south of Long Beach. This year, a good friend of mine is celebrating a milestone birthday and contacted me several weeks ago about joining him. Our admission wristbands arrived in the mail at his San Clemente home on Monday. Finally, I'm going!
Keanu Reeves has been a member of the band Dogstar since the eighties, a band he's played bass for that consists of some life-long friends. They released their third studio album titled, "Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees," in October of 2023.
The Ohana Music Festival begins on September 27 for three days at Doheny State Beach. The word "ohana" means family in Hawaiian, and a portion of the proceeds from the annual music festival go to help maintain area beach parks. The first one was held in 2016 and featured Jack Johnson, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and others alongside Pearl Jam.
This year's lineup includes Alanis Morrisettee, Keanu Reeves' band Dogstar, DEVO, Crowded House, Sting, and 30 other bands. Tickets are still available for the event; click here for details.
Pearl Jam will headline the Friday and Sunday shows with Sting headlining Saturday evening. A single-day pass costs about $200.
