
Blindness Lawsuits Continue Over Drug Used In ID, WA, UT
More lawsuits have been filed against the makers of a weight loss drug available in the United States alleging deteriorating vision as a side effect.
The pharmaceutical companies Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly continue to come under fire by a growing number of consumers who have reported vision problems since self-administering the weight loss drug Ozempic. There are currently more than 2,600 lawsuits filed worldwide against the drug makers that stem from reported health problems including vision loss, hair loss, and kidney damage.

Rueters is reporting that numerous lawsuits will be heard in court in the coming months from those who claim to be suffering from serious side effects from Ozempic (semaglutide), which was first approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2017 for people with Type 2 Diabetes.

What's Cracking America has reported the makers of the weight loss drug are facing more than $2 billion in damages. Roughly 2,600 lawsuits have been filed since 2023, according to the WCA data.
The drug is supposed to work by mimicking natural hormones in the body that help users feel as if their food cravings have been met, according to UC Davis Health. Ozempic is available through state-licensed pharmacies across the country.
