A couple of lifelong friends experienced something truly terrifying while on a camping trip in 1971 in the Central California mountains that is still inspiring area visitors to seek out the exact site where mysterious, disturbing audio was captured during one of the evenings. Professional audio experts have analyzed the recordings and believe the sounds were made by a massive creature that's neither animal nor man.

A 53-year-old audio recording that has become known as the "Sierra Sounds" captured something beyond bizarre in the mountains of the Stanislaus National Forest somewhere between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park. While the exact location has never been revealed by the group of men who regularly visited the site, the location of the eerie recordings is thought by many to be somewhere in the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness.

A man named Ron Morehead recorded the audio, which many people in the Bigfoot community believe are the sounds of multiple Sasquatch communicating with each other.

The story was brilliantly told in an episode of Missing 411 titled The Hunted released a few years back. A man named Ron Morehead recorded the audio, which many people in the Bigfoot community believe are the sounds of multiple Sasquatch communicating with each other. Strange balls of light were also allegedly seen during the campout.

The actual site where the event occurred has been described by Morehead as being between an eight and 10-mile hike from the nearest accessible road. It's also thought to be at an elevation of between 7,500 and 8,200 feet, according to information found online. The group has regularly returned to the campsite since 1971 but hasn't experienced what transpired during the trip that took place more than five decades ago.
