Ketchum Man Arrested for Animal Cruelty
KETCHUM, Idaho (KLIX) – A 46-year-old Ketchum man has been arrested on charges of animal cruelty.
According to the Ketchum Police Department, Matthew M. Muer was arrested a little before noon on Saturday for dragging an English bulldog puppy, which later died.
A woman alerted police to the incident when she yelled to Muer as he walked near the intersection of Warm Springs Road and Lewis Street, where officers were directing traffic.
An officer approached Muer and noticed a leash was looped around the puppy’s neck, according to police; there was no collar on the dog. The animal showed obvious signs of distress and was taken to a local veterinarian. The puppy died a short time later.
Muer, who police say showed no signs of intoxication, told the officer that the animal was his but that he was unaware he had been dragging it. He was arrested at the scene and taken to the Blaine County Detention Center.
