Magic Valley Airports Receive Federal Grants for Improvements

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) Southern Idaho airports have benefited from federal grants to improve their facilities in the last year. The Idaho Transportation Department says that close to $37 million has been awarded to Idaho airports from the Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program. The grant money is specifically aimed at improving and maintaining airports. Magic Valley Regional Airport was awarded exactly $1,228,658 to build a taxiway and purchase a new fire engine to replace one that is more than 20 years –old. Airport Manager Bill Carberry says work on the taxiway will begin in the spring and a request to purchase a new firetruck will be made Monday. The Twin Falls airport has also been awarded $3,460,768 for taxiway rehabilitation and reconstruction. Jerome County Airport was given $1,137,390 to rehabilitate the apron and reconstruct a taxiway, according to ITD.
