COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (KLIX)-Idaho State Police is investigating the death of a north Idaho man who was struck and killed by a car while walking on a road at around sundown on Monday.

On Dec. 23, ISP said in a statement, 77-year-old Robert Johnson, of Coeur d'Alene, was hit by a Chevrolet Corvette at around 5:30 p.m. on Appleway Ave near U.S. Highway 95. Johnson was also hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee after the initial impact. People attempted lifesaving measures on Johnson, but he died before he could be taken to the hospital.

ISP said Johnson had not been in a crosswalk at the time of the crash and that alcohol was not involved with the drivers of the two vehicles. The investigation is ongoing.
