Another end of an era is on the way for American retailing.

If all worked well boxes would arrive by Labor Day and we’d have new school clothes.

Fox News reported this morning Sears/Kmart is nearing an implosion.  Sears holds an especially large place in national history.  Generations ordered from the Sears catalog.  I can remember as a boy my mom would take our measurements in mid-summer and then place orders from the catalog.  If all worked well, boxes would arrive by Labor Day and we’d have new school clothes.  Never mind I wore high-waters all year long (Mom either didn’t measure well or I was growing so fast I quickly outpaced my clothes).

Millions of Americans found long distance shopping through Sears a godsend.  The Internet Age has all but replaced catalog shopping and is now breaking down brick and mortar stores.
