TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Scammers are relentless. The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office says it once again is receiving multiple reports of attempted fraud.

According to a news release issued by the office late Tuesday afternoon, the scammers call a person and states he is with the federal government and is calling about delinquent taxes. He tells his potential victim that if he doesn’t receive payment within the hour, he’ll send law enforcement officers to the home to make an arrest.

“As this is tax season, these calls will become more common,” the release states. ”Remember, the IRS does not use Western Union or Green Dot to collect funds, and does not usually make contact by phone.”

If you’ve gotten this type of call, or believe you’ve been targeted by scammers in other ways, contact the Internal Revenue Service at 208-387-2847 or the Idaho State Tax Commission at 208-736-3040.
