BURLEY, Idaho – Catch catfish, win money – Idaho Power Co. recently stocked Milner Reservoir with 8- to 18-inch catfish, some tagged with a cash reward.

Idaho Power stocked the reservoir on June 28.

Channel cats grow quickly and holdover fish from previous stockings could exceed 20 inches and weigh up to 10 pounds, according to the utility company.

The cash rewards are available for catching specially-tagged fish as part of a study Idaho Power and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game are doing to track how many anglers are fishing for and catching channel cats in the reservoir.

Where at the reservoir were the fish released?

At the Lex Kunau Park boat ramp near the Highway 27 Bridge in Burley, and the North Freedom Park boat ramp near the Highway 30 Bridge in Heyburn.

This is the company’s 25th year completing stocking efforts at the site, which is part of its licensing agreement to operate a hydroelectric generation facility at Milner Dam.
