The Twin Falls City Council’s discussion over the proposed new city budget for the coming fiscal year had a lot to do with a proposed property tax increase.  City Manager Travis Rothweiler has proposed a 4 percent increase in city property taxes to help meet the demands of several budgetary issues for the city including road maintenance.

Twin Falls city officials are taking a look at a salary survey conducted two years ago that shows Twin Falls city employees, on average, are paid about seven percent less than employees in comparable cities around the state.  But, they say it’s really not comparing apples to apples because in some of the towns where the pay is better, some city employees have been laid off.  That has not been the
