Twin Falls city manager is urging the city council to look ahead into the cities future. City manager Travis Rothweiler told the council Monday to look at the long term needs of Twin Falls as the budget process begins.

We told you yesterday that Twin Falls City Manager Travis Rothweiler would be asking the city council for money to conduct a survey on city employee compensation and how Twin Falls compares to other comparable towns in Idaho.  He did…and they said no.

Twin Falls City Manager Travis Rothweiler will be asking the City Council today for about $12,500 to conduct a survey.  Rothweiler wants to know how Twin Falls compares to comparable size towns in Idaho for compensation to city employees.

However you look at it, there is always a price to pay for recycling.  Twin Falls city officials are concerned that the city’s cost to dump the solid waste produced by city residents may be going up by about a dollar per ton.

Some residents along Eastland Drive North in Twin Falls are not happy with the city right now.

The Twin Falls City Council’s discussion over the proposed new city budget for the coming fiscal year had a lot to do with a proposed property tax increase.  City Manager Travis Rothweiler has proposed a 4 percent increase in city property taxes to help meet the demands of several budgetary issues for the city including road maintenance.

This afternoon the Twin Falls City Council will take its first look at the proposed city budget which will take effect October 1st.

As a way to help alleviate the $2.4-million dollar gap in the city budget, the city of Twin Falls will lay off two employees in the city building department and freeze seven other full time positions.

Twin Falls city officials are taking a look at a salary survey conducted two years ago that shows Twin Falls city employees, on average, are paid about seven percent less than employees in comparable cities around the state.  But, they say it’s really not comparing apples to apples because in some of the towns where the pay is better, some city employees have been laid off.  That has not been the
