As a way to help alleviate the $2.4-million dollar gap in the city budget, the city of Twin Falls will lay off two employees in the city building department and freeze seven other full time positions.  City Manager Travis Rothweiler told the Times News that these steps will help save over a half million dollars.  The freeze will bring the total of city employees to the same level as in 2007-2008, or 263 employees.  Rothweiler said they don’t foresee the economic downturn ending in the short term so the decision was made to lay off two employees from the building department.  City Councilman Lance Clow said this if the first set of layoffs he’s seen in the city in his 18 years on the council.
