What would you do? What would you do if you had a child at an establishment and they got pulled into an office and questioned? They are asked to hand over an object that is theirs and is being isolated in an office with the owner? This is a real scenario that allegedly took place recently in Twin Falls, and the backlash on social media has led to parents wondering how they would react if it had been their child.

Recently in Twin Falls, a teen was allegedly pulled into the office of an establishment and questioned by the owner over vaping in the bathroom. While the details are still up in the air on what truly happened, the fact that a child was pulled into the office of an establishment, asked to hand over her property (the vape pen) and there was no parent present has caused some controversy. As a parent what would you do in this situation? I know for me, I would have a major issue with my child being isolated in an office with an adult while unsupervised by a parent.

Adults Crossing the Line With Children

While I won't go into details about what may or may not have happened during the situation here in Twin Falls, clearly a line was crossed. Children, no matter how old, should not be isolated with adults and questioned. Vaping for minors is illegal in the state, but it should not be up to an establishment to enforce these laws on a minor. The authorities should have dealt with the situation, the parents should have been present, and the teen in question should have been asked to leave. Putting a child in that predicament is never a situation they should be in. There are always two sides to a story, but no parent should have to hear about their child being put in a room alone and questioned without a parent or legal guardian present.

As parents, it is our job to protect our children, and as adults, we should never put a child in a situation where they feel uncomfortable or threatened. While the logistics of what happened that day is only known between the people involved, it shouldn't have happened the way it did. I know I would have had a very angry discussion with the owner and my child and family would never return to their place of business. If your child was put in that situation, what would you do?
