Now that the Twin Falls city recycling program is several months old, city officials say it’s still a resounding success.  Officials say about 70 percent of the city residents are taking part in the recycling plan and that has resulted in over 1100 tons of refuse being kept out of the landfill and going to be recycled instead.  Each home participating in the recycling effort is contributing an average of 26 pounds every week.  But as good as the system is working and as popular as it seems to be among city residents, officials say it would be great if the participating level were closer to 100 percent.  They also caution residents that the recycle bins have an orange lid and those are to be used for recycling only, not for trash.
