Washington Businessman Charged with Sexual Discrimination

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The Washington Attorney General's Office has charged a Spokane-area businessman with sexual discrimination.

The Spokesman-Review reports that a complaint filed Wednesday accuses 79-year-old Monte L. Masingale of refusing to consider men for a secretary position at Greenacres Motors and harassing the women he hired.

It also says Masingale threatened to fire the women if they didn't return his sexual advances.

Last year, Masingale was accused of demanding sex from a job candidate in Idaho. He took an Alford plea, meaning that he maintained his innocence but admitted there was enough evidence that a jury might convict him.

As of Thursday, Masingale had no listed legal representation. An attorney representing Greenacres Motors declined to comment on the allegations.

The business listed under the name of Masingale's wife, Rosanna. She is also named in the attorney general's complaint.
