UPDATE: Cases of whooping cough have been reported in Minidoka County, according to South Central Public Health District, this in addition to reports of students with the respiratory disease at a school in Twin Falls and the Kimberly School District. 

KMVT is reporting that three students in Kimberly have been diagnosed with pertussis, otherwise known as whooping cough, and that the health district now says that two students in Minidoka County School District have been diagnosed with the disease.

In a new release earlier today, the health district said students at Canyon Ridge High School were found to have whooping cough.

TWIN FALLS, (KLIX) Magic Valley health officials say a case of pertussis has been reported at Canyon Ridge High School this week. The Twin Falls School District says in a news release, the school is working with area health officials to monitor the situation. South Central Public Health District notified the school district a student had been diagnosed with pertussis, also known as whooping cough, and advised them of what to do. The district says it will keep the school open and will have staff thoroughly clean and sanitize surfaces throughout the building. Both the district and SCPHD is recommending students with symptoms of pertussis stay home until examined by a doctor. Symptoms include explosive bursts of coughing that can last four to six weeks.
