(KLIX) – Three iconic symbols of the Monopoly board game will not return in future editions of the game.

Hasbro Gaming, which makes the real-estate-trading board game, said on Friday that the boot, thimble and wheelbarrow will be replaced by three other tokens: a penguin, rubber duck and Tyrannosaurus rex.

The decision came after the company conducted a survey of Monopoly fans in more than 100 countries in January, asking which tokens they’d like to see in the next generation of the board game.

While the boot, thimble and wheelbarrow got the, well, boot – literally – Hasbro says the most popular token – the Scottie dog – will remain gamers’ best friend.

The complete lineup of tokens in new editions of the board game include the Scottie dog, battleship, car, cat, penguin, rubber ducky, top hat, and T-rex.

The “global Monopoly community has spoken,” Hasbro’s Jonathan Berkowitz, senior vice president of marketing, said in a statement on Friday. “The next generation of tokens clearly represents the interests of our fans around the world and we're proud to have our iconic game impacted by the people that feel most passionate about playing it.”

The new edition of the widely popular board game will be released this fall.
