Twin Falls, ID, (PRESS RELEASE) – The Sawtooth National Forest is partnering with the Boy Scouts of America to work on maintenance and improvements in the Bear Gulch Campground.  The Bear Gulch Campground is located in the Shoshone Basin on the Cassia Division of the Minidoka Ranger District. It is on Forest Service Road #513.  ATV Trail #848, which runs through the campground, will also be temporarily closed.    This maintenance project is an Eagle Scout project with Troop #200.

The Eagle Scout will be leading a group of 12 volunteers to remove old fencing in the campground and replace it with new, wildlife-friendly fencing materials.  The new fence will be placed to better delineate campground activities and should give an improved look to the campground.

The Bear Gulch Campground will be closed from Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 5pm to all vehicle and public entry while work is on-going.    They hope to have the work completed in time to re-open the campground for the weekend.

The Eagle Scout Service Project is the opportunity for a Boy Scout to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project for the benefit of his community.  The Sawtooth National Forest appreciates the opportunity to partner with the Boy Scouts of America on this worthwhile project.
