WASHINGTON (AP) - Emails an American soldier sent to his parents before he was captured by the Taliban three years ago suggest he was disillusioned and considering deserting. Bowe Bergdahl told his parents he was "disgusted" with the U.S. mission in Afghanistan and with the Army. In emails quoted in a forthcoming article in "Rolling Stone" magazine, some of Bergdahl's words read like a suicide note. The magazine says the emails were provided by Bergdahl's family, which has gone public with its own discontent with U.S. efforts to free their son. Bergdahl was captured in eastern Afghanistan under circumstances the military has never detailed. He was listed as "duty status unknown" when his capture was made public. Bergdahl is the only U.S. POW in Afghanistan.
