The National Weather Service in Boise has just issued a Blizzard Warning for the Magic Valley through 5pm Friday.

­The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Blizzard Warning Which is in effect until 5 pm Friday.

  • Snow accumulation: 3 to 5 inches of new accumulation. Blowing and drifting of snow will create major difficulties for travel.
  • Winds/visibility: West to northwest 15 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Visibility may drop to 1/4 mile or less in blowing snow at times.
  • Snow will develop over the area between 8 and 11 pm tonight and continue through Friday afternoon. The heaviest snowfall and highest winds expected between 3 am and 9 am on Friday.
  • Slick roads and reduced visibilities will make for hazardous travel conditions mainly south of interstate 84 and especially along us-93 south to jackpot, and Sr-51 south to Owyhee.

A blizzard warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If You must travel have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded stay with your vehicle.
