(KLIX)- Buhl School officials are hoping an upcoming levy election will help fill a budget gap. Next week Buhl voters will be asked to head to the polls and approve a $400,000 supplemental levy that would run for two years. Buhl School’s Superintendent Byron Stutzman says the tax rate for a home valued at 100,000 would be about $41.21 per year. Since 2009 the district has made funding cuts and has survived on several grants and reserves till now. The levy is aimed at filling a $450,000 budget deficit. Stutzman says they’ll have to look at cutting staff and programs. Voters can still vote absentee at the county court house in twin falls until Friday evening. Polls will open up on Tuesday the 28th of August. To pass the supplemental levy needs a simple majority vote.
