TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — The College of Southern Idaho has opened a food pantry for students who are struggling with hunger.

Student development coordinator Samra Culum told The Times-News , a Twin Falls newspaper, that food insecurity has been a topic of conversation on campus for years. When the issue came up again a few months ago during a student meeting, officials took action. The college launched Gilbert's Pantry in late August.

The food pantry is open to any part- or full-time CSI students who need assistance. Culum says so far about six students have received food from the pantry, including some that have families with young kids. Students are also donating to the pantry. The college's welding club dropped off a large food donation last week.
