STANLEY, Idaho (KLIX) Firefighters have been able to keep a blaze near Stanley from growing larger in a week since lightening sparked it.

According to information from the Sawtooth National Forest, the Dry Creek Fire northwest of the small mountain town is about 90% contained. The fire has burned nearly 800 acres and is estimated to be fully contained by today. Campgrounds in the area are expected to reopen to the public as well.

A Closure Order will remain in effect in the fire area. Highway 21 from Stanley to Lowman is open and a pilot car is no longer guiding cars through the area. However, fire managers ask people to drive slow and watch for fire trucks and other equipment that may be in the area along the highway. The fire danger is very high in the Sawtooth National Forest were Stage 1 fire restrictions are in place. Hit the link for more on the restrictions.
