BUHL, Idaho (KLIX) – A one-mile section of U.S. Highway 30 has been closed to traffic due to flooding near Deep Creek in Buhl.

The flooding, caused by canal damage upstream, according to the Idaho transportation Department, prompted the closure between 1000 East and 1100 East.

About a foot of water is running over the road, ITD says, creating unsafe conditions for traffic. Motorists should avoid driving through the area until water levels subside.

According to Idaho State Police, there also is flooding on Idaho Highway 46, also near Buhl, and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes of travel.

Traffic on S.H. 46 near Buhl is not blocked at this time, but conditions are deteriorating due to increasing water over the roadway and it may be blocked to travel in the near future.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution when approaching or traveling through any water covering the roadway as the depth of the water may be difficult to judge and other hazards may exist.
