Idaho Insurance Officials Remind Citizens of Flood Insurance
BOISE, Idaho (KLIX) With areas in Idaho facing flooding from snow melt and rain the Idaho Department of Insurance is reminding homeowners of flood insurance.
According to the department, most homeowners insurance plants do not cover flood damage from rising water, including snow melt. There is usually a 30-day waiting period as well for flood insurance.
After every flood, we hear about homeowners who did not realize they needed to protect themselves with flood insurance,” said Department Director Dean Cameron. “We urge consumers to review their coverage now and make sure they have the protection they need.”
The department also notes that flood insurance will cover a building, but coverage for personal contents like clothing, appliances, and other items is optional.
