Idaho Wildlife Officials May Reopen Goose Hunting Near Burley
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) An area closed to goose hunting near Burley may once again be available to hunters. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking public comment to reopen an area to hunting goose along the Snake River upstream of Milner Dam.
According to Fish and Game, the area was closed off to goose hunting to allow the birds an area to stop and rest during migration. It also was put in place to bolster the goose population for hunting at a time when the bird population was much lower.
In the last few years, Fish and Game says the population has increased. The area in question is currently open to duck hunting and has been for some time. Fish and Game will hold a negotiated rule public meeting to receive input about the proposed change at:
- Burley - March 7, 2017, 6 p.m., Best Western Inn, 800 N Overland Ave.
Those that may need special assistance for the meeting can call the Jerome Regional Office at the Idaho Department of Fish and Game directly at 208-324-4359, or through the Idaho Relay Service at 1-800-377-2529 (TDD).
