Violating These 3 Idaho Laws During Back to School Results in Big Fines or Jail
After a few months of rest, relaxation and a lack of calculus homework, school is back in session across the Boise area.
Parents are getting back into the routine of enforcing bed times, laying out clothes the night before, packing sack lunches, putting breakfast on the table and making sure the kids are out to the bus stop on time.

Even those who aren’t parents have to adjust their routines, because back to school season means that you’ll be sharing the roadways with school buses again. You’ll run into traffic around schools around drop-off and pick-up time and encounter kids in nearby crosswalks. School zone speed limits will be enforced again. After a few months of feeling like you’re on autopilot driving to and from the office, it may take a few days to readjust.
If your home or office are in the Boise, West Ada, Caldwell or Vallivue school districts you need to be aware of a few citations you’ll likely only get during the school year now. Nampa and Emmett will start their first year of four-day school weeks starting Monday, August 19. Kuna gets a few extra days. Their school 2024-2025 school year starts on Thursday, August 22.
So as the new school year kicks off, we want to give you a quick refresher course so that you can help keep these students safe and you don’t end up with a hefty fine or worse, jail time, for violating any of the statutes and laws during the school year.
