Idaho State Police are reporting that a woman has died after an accident involving a tractor-trailer hauling cars and a Chevrolet SUV Thursday night.

The accident happened Thursday evening around 9:25 north of Riggins on US95. From the ISP:

A 1995 International tractor trailer pulling a car hauler trailer with 4 vehicles, driven by a 62 year-old male from Nez Perce, ID, was travelling northbound on US95 when the vehicle crossed the center line into the southbound lane and struck a southbound 2022 Chevy Trax head on. The driver of the Chevy was a 54 year-old female from Whitebird, ID.

The International along with the trailer and cars caught fire. The Chevy traveled down a steep embankment and came to rest.

The driver of the International was able to escape the vehicle and had minor injuries. The driver of the Chevy was transported via ground ambulance to an area hospital and later succumbed to her injuries. Her next of kin has been notified.

The accident blocked traffic on the highway for about 4 hours and the incident is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

This is the 3rd accident this week being investigated by Idaho State Police in Idaho involving semi-trucks. Thursday morning police responded to an accident between a semi and a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was killed in the accident. Wednesday near Idaho Falls another accident involving a semi pulling a trailer occurred. 2 people were transported to local hospitals for monitoring. The Wednesday accident reported by police states:

A 57-year-old female, from Denver, Colorado, was driving a 2018 Ram ProMaster 2500 van, traveling eastbound on E 49th N. A 36-year-old male, from Rexburg, was driving a Ford F350 pickup pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with a skid steer, traveling southwest on US-26.

A semi pulling a tanker trailer was traveling southwest on US-26 and was making a turn onto westbound E 49th N. The driver of the Ram failed to yield to traffic and was struck by the Ford.
