PHOTOS: Twin Falls ID Park Lights Make AM Drive Worthwhile
For many Idaho workers, the morning drive is just a routine afterthought. For those of us who are sharing the roadways with bread trucks and other up and early motorists, downtown Twin Falls is a welcomed sight in the pre-dawn hours in December.
Normally, my morning commute to work from Falls Avenue to Park Avenue is an uneventful one. From door to door, it's about a 10 to 12 minute drive. Most mornings, it's just me and delivery trucks, and I rarely see city police on the road.
If you haven't checked out the city park lately after dark, it's worth walking with a hot chocolate and the kids. Twin Falls city staffers transformed Shoshone Street East a couple weeks ago into a holiday hotspot. I like to turn up our sister station KOOL 96.5 FM ('The Christmas Station') as I pass the park on the way in each day.

I think the Christmas holiday is something many people take for granted. Sure, you might be tired of the music and stressed out over shopping, but it does come around just once a year, and leads into three straight months of bitter cold, desert living.

I pulled off Shoshone Friday morning just after 4 AM and walked the park. I had it to myself. I walked past the one tree that's lit with white bulbs; the others all have multi-colored ones. It's definitely the best thing about my morning drive.
I want to thank the city crew who's job it is every year to hang them.
