(KLIX)-Fire crews continue to battle the Thompson Creek fire near Magic Mountain Ski area. According to the Forest Service it has burned abou650 acres of sage brush and sub-alpine fir. The fire is estimated to be contained by the 14th with full control by the 16th. There are a number of private cabins being threatened by the fire. The Rock Creek Rural Fire District is working to protect those structures. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and will be determined by law enforcement. Roads are still closed in and around the area. Rock Creek road at Third Fork is closed as well as in the Shoshone Basin at the Forest Boundary. Only fire personnel is being allowed in. Hunters with permits in the area are asked to call the Idaho Department of Fish and Game in Jerome.
