UPDATE: Drowning Victim Recovered from Snake River
UPDATE: The body of Joshua Squires was found and recovered just before 7 p.m. Thursday evening by search crews.
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- Twin Falls Rescue crews are looking for a man in his early twenties that reportedly fell into the water at Pillar Falls Wednesday night. According to the Twin Falls Sheriff's office Joshua Dean Squires, 22, of Gooding, and currently a resident of Twin Falls, was reported missing just after 8 p.m. when a friend tried to find him after falling into the water. The two had been crossing the rocks when one fell in.
The friend who reported it tried to rescue the 22 year old but was carried down stream by the strong current. Rescuers were not able to reach the area where the body is believed to be.
The sheriff's office has asked the Bureau of Reclamation to reduce flows on the Snake River at Milner Dam from 1800 to 300 cubic feet per second to make it easier to find the drowning victim. The reduced water flows will not reach the area until this afternoon. Volunteer search crews as well as deputies worked all night to search for the man.
