Shorts at Work?

Southern Idaho weather always surprises me. Always! On Friday I was wearing my winter coat and boots and on Thursday it's predicated to be almost 80.

Over the weekend I was discussing summer outfits with a friend of mine. I know, thrilling...huh? Anyway, shorts at work came up. I thought shorts in the work place were an absolute "no". She informed me that as long as your shorts didn't have holes in them you could were them in a business casual environment. Is this true?
