When I was a kid Father’s Day seemed like a less important holiday around the house. There was always a lot of fuss made about Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and even Mother’s Day, but Father’s Day was marked by a nice meal and little more. It wasn’t until much later in life when I became a father that I understood why. It’s because dad just took care of everything, and never expected a parade.

A good dad doesn’t need a lot of fanfare. A good dad doesn’t need to be fawned over. A good dad takes care of his family even when it means giving up every single one of his hopes and dreams. Dads are the workhorses that keep the entire world running, and when we see our kids laugh, play, and grow up, that’s all the thanks we need.

With Father’s Day coming Sunday, June 19th, this is the perfect opportunity to say thanks to your dad. You don’t need to make a big thing of it, just give the old man a hug.

But if you insist on doing something nice for Father’s Day, we’ve put together our best placed to take dad in Twin Falls for Father’s Day.

Shopping at Sportsman’s Warehouse

Take Dad shopping this Father’s Day at the Sportsman’s Warehouse. It’s the great indoors for those who love the great outdoors. You could get the latest gear for that Sturgeon fishing trip that dad’s always wanted to go on, or that hunting trip this fall. Maybe you just want to go camping? The Sportsman’s Warehouse has everything you need! Head over to the canyon rim in Twin Falls for the Sportsman’s Warehouse and let dad go crazy!

Gadgets at Best Buy

It’s a known fact that dad’s love gadgets. Whether it’s the new iPhone or iPad, a screaming new laptop, or a huge LCD TV that covers the entire living room wall, you can find it at Best Buy. Half the fun of Best Buy is getting to pick up and try the new gizmos. Get dad something really cool this year so he can brag to his buddies that his family is awesome!

Golfing at Canyon Springs Golf Course

Take dad golfing! And one of our favorite courses in Twin Falls is Canyon Springs. Nestled inside the Snake River Canyon, this beautiful course is challenging but still perfect for the weekend golfer to play a round (or two). And Canyon Springs is affordable. Let dad golf and it won’t break the bank.

White Water Rafting on the Snake River

This one is for the more adventurous dad. Pack up the family, strap on your life jackets, and go white water rafting down the Snake River. The Idaho Guide Service offers a great package that rafts down the Snake about two miles above Cauldron Linn that features 16 major rapids in 14 miles. From the website:

Minimum age for this trip is 16. Previous whitewater experience or a go-for-it attitude is required.

Packages start at $125 but include lunch, transportation, and all boating equipment.

Helicopter Tour of Shoshone Falls

Recently I had a chance to fly with Bryant of Silverhawk Aviation on this very same tour, and I can’t recommend it enough. Flying over Shoshone Falls in a helicopter is truly a breath taking experience. You’ll see Evel Knievel’s 1977 jump site, Shoshone Falls, Dierkes Lake, and the Twin Falls on this amazing 30 minute ride. Tours are scheduled through the summer for every Friday and Saturday (depending on weather).

Tours start at $50!

Or just give dad the day off. As long as you tell the old man that you love him, that’s all that matters. Mark your calendar: Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19th. Happy Father’s Day!
