A Buhl man has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly threatening two people with a handgun. The Times-News reports that 23-year-old Robert Joseph Ferreira was arraigned Dec. 14th after a Twin Fall police officer responded to a call about a woman being kidnapped at gunpoint from a car. Robert Simerly told the officer Ferreira tapped on the window of his white Tahoe at 2:59 a.m. Dec. 4, while it was stopped near downtown Twin Falls. When Simerly cracked the window, Ferreira allegedly pointed a .45 caliber handgun at Simerly’s passenger, Ashley Viera, and told her to get out of the car. She complied, leaving with Ferreira. While police interviewed Simerly, Twin Falls County sheriff’s deputies caught up with Ferreira and Viera at 120 Sixth Ave. W. and located a gun behind the driver’s seat of the vehicle they were in. Both Ferreira and Viera had warrants out for their arrests for unrelated crimes. Viera allegedly told police she willingly went with Ferreira and wasn’t afraid of him, despite being threatened with the gun.
