TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- A controlled fire will be held at the end of the month just northeast of Hazelton to reduce the risk of large fires.

According to the Bureau of Land Management the prescribed burn will happen sometime between June 24 and 30 near Cinder Butte, weather permitting. The burn should take about a week.

Land managers expect the burn to help reduce the risk of larger fires and keep invasive grasses and weeds from taking over sagebrush habitat. BLM officials say the fire will enhance wildlife habitat, restore native plants, and increase safety for the public.

Smoke from the fire is expected to move northeast for the most part.
