If early voting is any indication some of the changes in voting procedures this year may  have an effect on the turnout for election day.  In some counties in the Magic Valley officials say the absentee voting has been a little slower this year.  Some county officials indicate that may be because those choosing to vote with a Republican ballot this year have to be registered as a Republican.  That’s unlike previous years where declaring a party affiliation was not necessary.  The deadline for voting absentee in person is 5 o’clock today.  Those voting absentee by mail in ballot must have their ballots returned by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, primary election day.  Those deadlines are the same as in past years.
