ISP Report Fatal Crash in N. Idaho

UPDATE w/correction:

EASTPORT, Idaho (KLIX)-One person was killed Tuesday afternoon in north Idaho when their car went off a highway and struck a power pole.

According to Idaho State Police, 40-year-old Shawn Russell, of Bonners Ferry died at the scene sometime around 4:26 p.m. when his late 90's Mercury Sable went off U.S. Highway 95 south of Eastport.

ISP said the car hit a power pole and Russell had been wearing a seat belt. The crash blocked the roadway for about five hours.

NOTE: the story has been corrected to reflect the fact that Mr. Russel did have his seat belt on during the crash.
