Why So Many Idahoans Are Skipping Weddings in the Gem State
Getting married is one of the most exciting times in a person's life. It is combining two families, two people, and making them a new family. It is finding that special someone that you want to spend the rest of your life with and that makes you feel things that nobody else can. Having a wedding is a magical time. It can be stressful, but when that day comes, it is magical and is a memory you won't ever forget. It is the one day that certain groups of friends are all under one roof, maybe for the first and last time ever. It is the day that family members are all together. While having a wedding is great, lately, many in Idaho have claimed they are no longer attending them, and it is because of one main factor.
People in Idaho Not Attending Weddings
Attending a wedding is usually a fun time. There are drinks, food, dancing, friends, family, and plenty of memories, but according to one survey from datingnews.com, many in Idaho are claiming to be skipping out on all the fun. According to the study, 54 percent of those polled claim that weddings have become too expensive for guests to attend. This may sound ridiculous to some, but 1 in 3 polled admitted to skipping a wedding in 2024 already due to the expenses, and 1 in 10 admitted to going into debt to attend a wedding. Being in a wedding is an honor but 29 percent confessed to turning down the opportunity, due to cost. According to the survey, the average cost to be in a wedding party these days is $1,131.
Weddings Are Too Expensive in Idaho
While being in a wedding party costs over a grand, being a guest isn't cheap either. The average cost for a guest to attend a wedding is $360, with that amount going up to $901 for an out-of-state wedding. When it comes to giving gifts at a wedding, the younger generations find it ok to show up empty-handed, whereas the older generations believe in bringing a gift. 59 percent of those surveyed said it is ok to attend a wedding with no gift, and 36 percent admitted to doing so. Due to the costs of attending a wedding these days, many of those invited have had to pick and choose which weddings to attend, and which ones to skip out on.
Attending a wedding might be a fun time, but when it leaves your wallet empty, it might not be worth it. The good news is, that weddings rarely catch people off guard and there is typically time to save up, but some weddings might need to be skipped.
