Popular Stores Closing in California in 2024
There are certain businesses that many of us enjoy going to, and when one of them closes it can throw off routines and shopping options. There are many businesses still feeling the effects of the pandemic a couple of years ago and have been forced to select certain locations to close across the country. Despite heavy population and steady business, some popular stores have decided to close in California this year, and it has many feeling upset.
Stores Closing in California This Year
Due to companies being forced to cut back on spending in California, due to an interest rate increase of 12 percent, major chains are closing stores to cut costs. California seems to be the state feeling the effect the most as they are seeing some major chains close this year. The following stores will be closing in the Golden State this year.
Macy's Closing in California
Macy's has been closing stores across the country and over the next three years, will look to close near 125 stores across America. Unfortunately, for California, some of these stores will be in their state, and Macy's in select malls will be a casualty.
Rite Aid Closing in California
Rite Aid has filed for bankruptcy and will be forced to close over 150 stores going forward. Over a quarter of these stores will be in California, with a reported 38 stores set to close sometime this year.
Bed Bath and Beyond Closed in California
Bed, Bath and Beyond saw several stores close in 2023, with more coming in 2024. The business fell on hard times recently and is closing stores across the country, with locations in California expected to close this year.
CVS Closing in California
CVS is set to close 900 stores nationwide, and California is not immune to these closures. San Francisco has been targeted as one place that will see closures in 2024.
Tuesday Morning Closing in California
Tuesday Morning will be closing all of its stores nationwide, as the process continues. California is one of the few places that still has stores open, but by the end of the year, they will all be closed for good.
Banana Republic Closing in California
Banana Republic announced last year that they would be closing stores across the county, and this includes San Francisco. They are not alone in closing though, as their parent company is closing stores as well.
GAP Closing in California
GAP, which is the parent company of Banana Republic, said that 350 stores would close across the county. A number across the state of California will see their doors close this year, leaving shoppers disappointed.
As sad as it is to see many of these stores closing, the good news is that in California, you can often drive to a nearby town and find another one. In the case of some, that are closing permanently, it is sad to see them go, but it opens up the opportunity to perhaps find a new place you have never discovered.
