The Idaho State Police have issued a second update following a deadly crash on the first day of May.

The original post about the accident had possibly incorrect information about the vehicles involved and the number of occupants in the vehicles. The update clarified that information. The newest update includes the name of one of the deceased, the direction of travel of each vehicle, and information on injuries and emergency response.

ORIGINAL STORY WITH UPDATES INCLUDED: ISP responded to the crash on May 1st around 7:15 PM. Their report states that the accident was between 2 vehicles on Highway 20 at mile marker 399, near Henry’s Lake.

The investigation is ongoing, and the reports from the police don’t specify which vehicle may have been at fault or if the deceased were killed in the crash or the fire.

The updated Idaho State Police report states the following regarding the vehicles and their occupants:

The crash involved a Dodge Ram pickup - driven by 25-year-old Isaih Moreno of Humble, Texas - and a Mercedes passenger van.

The Dodge Ram was traveling westbound (southbound on a map), while the Mercedes van was traveling eastbound (northbound on a map) toward Yellowstone National Park.

There were 14 occupants in the van and one occupant, the driver, in the pickup.

Of the 14 occupants in the Mercedes van, the driver was licensed in California. The passengers included 12 individuals of Chinese nationality and one of Italian nationality.

Tragically, six individuals in the van and the driver of the pickup died as a result of the crash.

Henry's Lake is in southeast Idaho near the entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

Tour Bus Catches Fire in Idaho Following Crash: 7 Dead Near Yellowstone

The van was a tour vehicle with a variety of occupants from different locations, so the process of notifying family members is an ongoing process. The Fremont County Coroner’s Office will release more information later.

The crash closed the highway for about 7 hours.

The original report claimed that ‘emergency medical personel responded and treated at least 16 patients' - but the updated report says there were only 14 occupants total in the vehicles.

Air ambulance (helicopter) and ground ambulance responded to the scene and all occupants were transported for medical care. Two were taken by air ambulance to Idaho Falls, and one was flown to Bozeman, Montana. The rest were taken by ground ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
