Alert: Winter Weather Expected To Hit Idaho Tonight With More Wind And Snow
Mother Nature got our hopes up over the weekend with a beautiful Sunday. Temperatures were close to 50 degrees and it seemed like the whole town was out on bike rides, walks, and playing pickleball to take advantage of the unusual weather. But Monday has come in like a typical Monday to squash our dreams with a wind advisory and snow in the forecast.
Another Round Of Winter Weather Hitting Idaho Tonight With Wind And Snow
The Weather Channel has issued a Wind Advisory for Southern Idaho tonight. Starting around 6 PM through 3 AM we should expect constant winds between 20 and 30 miles per hour and gusts up to 55 miles per hour. The strongest winds are expected to happen in The Magic Valley, so make sure any loose items in your yard are put away or staked down. There could be damage to trees and homes with these types of winds and power outages are also common.
Along with the dangerous Wind Advisory, we can also expect snow and rain Monday night in The Magic Valley. Tuesday will bring snow flurries throughout the day but no real accumulation on the ground. Further East, toward Pocatello, the chance of snow is greater and lasts longer. The Pocatello forecast is showing up to 5 inches of snow between now and Tuesday afternoon plus additional rounds of snow dropping over the next 2 weekends.
We shouldn’t be surprised by the beautiful weekend becoming a dreary new week. We have 12 seasons in Idaho and False Springs and 2nd and 3rd Winters are inevitable and expected. So, don’t put away all your winter clothes yet, but it would be smart to have a pair of shorts and flip-flops ready for the next nice day.
