Jerome, Idaho Man Remembers Working for Ronald Reagan

This weekend marks the anniversary of President Ronald Reagan’s birth. The late conservative icon was born on February 6^th, 1911 in Illinois. His acting career took him to California, where he later served two terms as Governor. Which he followed up with two terms as President. Reagan wasn’t the father of modern conservatism, but he made it “fashionable”. Before Reagan, the conventional wisdom in politics was a conservative Republican couldn’t win nationally. He made it look easy.

In-office, he defeated our Cold War nemesis without firing a shot. Today, Republicans still venerate the man, 18 years after his death.

Jerome County Commissioner Ben Crouch was a young man when he was challenged with finding an internship. He decided to pursue a very big fish. Crouch wrote Reagan, and not long afterward, found himself employed in helping establish the Reagan Library. The former president quickly took a liking to the hardworking younger man.
