BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The sister of the man killed in the Idaho wilderness after he was suspected of kidnapping a teen girl and killing her mother and brother in California has filed a $20 million wrongful death lawsuit against the FBI.

Attorneys representing Lora DiMaggio filed the lawsuit in Idaho's federal court on Monday. James DiMaggio was killed in 2013 after authorities said he abducted 16-year-old Hannah Anderson and killed her relatives in Boulevard, California.

The teen's disappearance triggered a massive search spanning much of the western U.S. and parts of Canada and Mexico. According to the lawsuit, attorneys argue that FBI agents used excessive force against DiMaggio and violated his constitutional right to a fair trial.
