Ogden Christmas Village a Short Drive From Twin Falls

One of America’s most impressive Christmas displays is just a 2-and-a-half hour drive from Twin Falls.  It’s the Ogden Christmas Village in Ogden, Utah.  A park along 25^th Street plays host.  I’m told there are three-quarters of a million lights used in the display.

Christmas villages are a mainstay of many European cities.  Several cities in neighboring states have adopted the tradition as a tourist draw.  Ogden benefits from being on the northern rim of the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Region.  It’s also within a day’s drive of many other large western communities.  Many people coming to see the lights can spend a few days and also see an air museum and the downtown train museum.  Which is located a few blocks from the Christmas Village.

People already come during winter.  They come to take advantage of the nearby ski slopes.

For me, the place also has more than its fair share of great restaurants.  Many of which are located along the festival route.

Can I make a recommendation?

I would suggest a 3 day weekend.  You can get a couple of nights at the village and then squeeze in the museums and dining experience during daylight hours.  The downtown area also isn’t short hotels.  At the historic Bigelow Hotel, you could even get a room facing the park, which runs alongside City Hall.  With the right planning, you may never need to use your car until you’re ready to come home.
