We get small earthquakes all the time thanks to our proximity to Yellowstone. But, a stronger than usual earthquake has just struck east of Pocatello. Welcome to Monday.

This quake was registered by the USGS as a 3.4 centered 8 km to the west/northwest of Soda Springs, Idaho. That's about 50 miles to the east/southeast of Pocatello.

Around the same time, there was a 3.0 earthquake that hit right on the Montana/Idaho border. This is the third earthquake in this area in the past week.

Earthquakes that are magnitude 3 are no reason to panic. But, the frequency of quakes that are now hitting closer to the Magic Valley definitely gets your attention.

If you have an interest in becoming an earthquake junkie, make sure you bookmark the USGS website, the University of Utah website and the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology.
